Faux Environmentally Conscious

Only in Berkeley could someone come up a "faux environmentally conscious" theme. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. The women who owns the place is no other than Ken Lay dressed up as your friend's hippie grandmother. No kidding. Looks cute and harmless but she is about only one thing -- getting your money --- and not just from your wallet either. A few years ago, she sweet talked the city of Berkeley into giving her the entire (all time) budget for local artists so she could buy the building Urban Ore is currently in. Not just the yearly budget mind you, but the entire amount of money that the city of Berkeley won in a lawsuit against Bayer (for the 1% of the arts investment that that Bayer should have made when it opened its campus in West Berkeley). In other words the pretty much the entire amount of money that Berkeley will ever set aside for artists.
So what do artist get in return -- well, she hires a couple of stoners pretending to be artists and a bunch of cool entirely overpriced junk -- I guess that would be nothing.
Makes you wonder if she is not Karl Roves' mother -- he could certainly learn something from her.
